Our next club excursion is to the beautiful Maria Island National Park.
Leaving on Friday 15th March and returning home on Sunday 17th March 2019.
Maria Island National Park is unique, being part of a convict probation station, which is one of 11 historic places, that together form the 'Australian Convicts Sites World Heritage Property'. It is an escape from the real world into the past with no shops and only ranger vehicles.
Maria Island is accessed by ferry from Triabunna which is about 2 ½ hours south of Launceston. The dates are planned to enable possible night photography and to photograph the painted cliffs which need a low tide.
There are great photographic opportunities and tracks for walking and cycling. Bring your own bike or hire one for $20 including helmet to ride south to explore the isthmus. Climb Mt Bishop and Clerk and Mt Maria. Photograph the wildlife and heritage buildings.
