Following in the footsteps of our founders.
We will be following the route taken by caravan in 1886 and 1889 by Frank Styant-Browne and Joshua Higgs Jr, who were founding members of our camera club.
Browne was a pharmacist and pioneer in the field of X-rays in Tasmania, and a keen amateur photographer. Higgs was an architect, surveyor and artist.
Along the way, we will try to recreate photographs originally taken by these men on their historic journey.
We will depart from Franklin House at 8-30am on Saturday 22nd May. Travel through Avoca, Fingal, St Mary’s and Scamander, before spending the night in St Helens, where there may be further opportunities for some night-sky and sunrise images.
We will journey back to Launceston on the Sunday, travelling through the Blue Tier, Lottah, Gould’s Country, Branxholm and Scottsdale.
